Essential Beliefs

GOD
There is one God, infinitely perfect and eternally existent in the persons of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. (Isaiah 44:6, Phil 1:12, John 1:1, Heb. 1:8, Acts 5:3-4)

JESUS
We affirm the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious atoning death through his shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and his personal return in power and glory. (Matt 1:23, John 1:14, John 8:58, Luke 24:39,1 Cor. 15:14, Col. 2:9)

HOLY SPIRIT
We affirm the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life. We affirm that the Holy Spirit provides one or more spiritual gifts to all believers, manifesting them as He wills.  (Matt.28:19, Romans 8:9, 1 Cor. 12, 2 Cor. 13:14)

RESURRECTION

Jesus Christ rose from the dead in the same body He died in after being in the grave for three days. He was raised in a glorified, physical body (still retaining his crucifixion wounds). He ascended bodily into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, and rules heaven and earth. (John 2:19; 1 Cor. 15;Luke 24:39).the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those that are saved to the resurrection of life and those that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

CHURCH
We affirm the one universal Church, which is the Body of Christ. We affirm Christ as its head. We affirm all that are born again as its members. We affirm the church’s purpose as offering worship to God, fellowship, ministry and instruction to itself, and evangelism and service to the world. We affirm the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

SALVATION
Salvation is by grace, through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:24, Romans 3:28)

Mission & Vision

Our Vision
“We exist to glorify God by making disciple makers in diverse communities.”

In the book of Acts, the church is birthed through the proclamation of the gospel and the work of the Spirit. We have a vision to make disciple makers in the culturally diverse communities of New Orleans resulting in a church planting movement across our city, in our state, and throughout the world.

Our Mission

“To create a diverse community who love God, lead well, and live the Gospel.”

At Cross Community Church, we believe the gospel has the power to transform a neighborhood one person at a time. Our desire is to implement strategies that focus on gospel proclamation and demonstration within a neighborhood context.

REDEEMED AND RECONCILED

The mission of Cross Community Church is to glorify God by making disciples through the gospel of Jesus Christ. God’s mission and the mission of His Church are inseparably linked. If God’s mission is to be glorified through the redemption and reconciliation of a people, the Church’s mission must orient around the glory of God and seek to glorify Him through redemption and reconciliation.

EMPOWERED TRANSFORMATION

Our vision is to be a church of grace-filled people, empowered for community transformation and new church formation, so that the Gospel is faithfully transferred from person to person and generation to generation.

MISSIONAL COMMUNITY

Community (or "Missional") Groups are an essential part of our church, as they provide a place where deeper fellowship and better support for one another can take place. Considering that the early church worshipped in large settings - in the synagogues - as well as in homes, we unite together similarly in order to be in deeper fellowship with God and one another.

Worship

We believe in corporate worship. Corporate worship centered on expository preaching is both biblical and beautiful. Through weekly corporate services, we will gather as the body and worship God through faithful preaching, singing, and giving.
